Large Bavent French Majolica Hen With Chicks

Circa 1910. 15ins high, 14.2ins wide, 6.7ins depth.

Bavent French Majolica figural which features a hen with four chicks.

Colouration: white, yellow, black, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Bavent pottery.


Hen: Generally good. Crack to one of the glass eyes. It is, however, stable.

KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing.

RESTORATION. Retouched firing cracks around the neck.

Filled chips to wattle, comb and tip of beak.

Chicks: Generally good. No restoration.

A few chips to the bases.

Yellow chicks: both beaks chipped.

KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing.
