The piece is worked in silk, metallic threads and some beading on a silk ground, in a variety of stitches, with areas of raised work.
Pictorial border (unfinished), featuring flowers animals and insects. Much of the border is unstitched, leaving only the original pencil line drawings.
Central panel depicts King Solomon greeting the Queen of Sheba, with landscape and castle in the background.
CONDITION: Generally good. Holes and some thinning to areas of the ground.
No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground.
No stitch losses. Some of the original drawings are slightly faded.
No colour run. Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
