Pair Sarreguemines Majolica Mardi Gras Wall Pockets

Victorian, circa 1890. Tallest is 11ins high, 7.5ins wide, 3.3ins depth.

Pair of Sarreguemines Majolica wall pockets which feature Pierrots.

The one marked, 'Mardi Gras' holds a handled bowl with a spoon.

The other marked, 'Mercredi Cendres' (Ash Wednesday) holds a hat.

Colouration: yellow, pink, cream, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Sarreguemines pottery.


Mardi Gras: Good. RESTORATION: One handle to pot reglued and join retouched.

Mercredi Cendres: Generally good. RESTORATION: Filled chips to rim of hat, fingers and left sleeve.

Top quarter section reglued and join retouched.
