Georgian, Circa 1820. 18ins high by 22.5ins wide. Antique Wool & Silkwork Bird with Fruit embroidery.
Framed in an old gilt frame with rippled, old glass.
Tacked to a wood stretcher frame with brown paper backing.
The sampler is worked in wool and silk on brown felt-like ground, in a variety of stitches.
Some of work the has been created by applying fabric motifs which have then been delicately stitched over.
Colours gold, cream, blue, green, pink, red and black.
Scene depicts a table covered with fruit and a bullfinch perched upon a grape vine
No stitch losses.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.
No colour run.
Frame showing wear and chips, but structurally sound.
