Staffordshire Pearlware Deer with Bocage Figure

pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 6.3ins high, 5.9ins wide, 3.1ins depth.

Staffordshire Pottery pearlware bocage figure which features a deer, recumbent on a shaped hollow base.

Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

Open bottomed.

Condition

Good. Minor flakes and chips to leaves on bocage and right hind hoof.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the right hind knee and to top of deer's head;

touch marks to the reverse;

glaze pops to the front of the base.

RESTORATION. Left ear reglued and join retouched.
