Pair Staffordshire pottery cats, recumbent on cushions

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 5.3ins high, 5.4ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature a cat on a cushion, recumbent on an oval base.

Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front.

Vent hole to underside of one.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Good. No restoration. Tiny chip to left ear.

Some paint losses to cushion.

Gilt almost entirely rubbed away.

KILN EFFECTS: touch marks and flecks of stray glaze to reverse.

Left facing: Good. No restoration. Tiny chip to right ear.

Some paint losses to cushion.

Some rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: faint shrinkage line to lower base edge at front.
