Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 7.5ins high, 5.5ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire spill vases with a childhood theme which feature a boy and a girl seated in trees next to kennels with spaniels below, resting on an oval base. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.
Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.
Female: Generally good. No restoration. Some flakes to rim of spill;
black hair on girl flaked off and faded.
Some rubbing to gilt.
Bruise to the underside;
firing cracks to the underside;
a few specks of kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front and reverse;
a couple of areas of staining to the reverse.
Male: Generally good. No restoration. Black hair on boy flaked off and faded.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front;
notable crazing to the front and reverse;
firing crack to the underside.
