
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 8.1ins high, 7.1ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures with a pastoral theme which feature a milkmaid and milkman each seated on a donkey, stood on a shaped base. The pieces are titled, 'MILK' to the fronts. Dull gilt base line.
Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.
Vent hole to the underside.
Right facing: Good. No restoration. Flaking to hat at reverse.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line to the boy's neck;
slight staining to his hat brim.
Left facing: Good. KILN EFFECT: a speck of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to donkey's left ear.
RESTORATION: Maid's head reglued and join retouched.
Filled chip to donkey's right ear.
