Holdcroft Majolica Oriental boy on coconut teapot
Victorian, circa 1870. 5.5ins high, 7.5ins wide, 3.9ins depth. Holdcroft Majolica teapot which features an oriental boy climbing onto a coconut.
Cobalt blue ground version. Colouration: cobalt blue, brown, green, are predominant.
Condition
CONDITION: Teapot: Good. No restoration. Some flakes wear to spout and leaves at base of handle.
KILN EFFECTS: thin glaze application to the handle;
a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze.
Cover: Very good. No restoration. KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to his face and hair;
glaze run to the cobalt blue glaze.
