Majolica Merman on shell riding dolphin salt

Victorian, circa 1890. 7ins high, 5.5ins wide, 4.9ins depth.

Majolica salt with a mythological theme which features a merman on a clam shell, which sits on a dolphin's back.

Colouration: turquoise, cream, green, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. No restoration. Two flakes to shell rim.

KILN EFFECTS: tiny glaze pops to the upper base;

glaze run;

uneven glaze application to shell interior;

flecks of stray coloured glaze to Merman.
