Victorian, circa 1870. 9.4ins high, 7.9ins wide, 3.9ins depth. Holdcroft Majolica jug/pitcher which features pond lily leaves and flowers, with a pond lily bud to top of handle. Turquoise ground version. Colouration: green, white, brown, are predominant.
Unusually, there is a '1/2 gallon' metal ring marker on the handle.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Holdcroft pottery.

KILN EFFECTS: craze lines to the exterior;
speck of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the exterior.
RESTORATION: Filled chip to spout.
Stabilised and retouched hairline to rim.
Stabilised hairline runs from base, about half way up the side.
