Staffordshire spaniel with playful pups

Victorian, circa 1860. 4.9ins high, 5.5ins wide, 3.3ins depth. Staffordshire figure which features a spaniel and her pups, seated on a shaped base. Russet and white version.

Dull gilt base line. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Maker's marks painted to the underside.


CONDITION: Generally good. A few paint losses to large spaniel and black and white pup.

Slight rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line running across both front legs of black and white pup;

flecks of stray coloured glaze to two of the dog's heads.

RESTORATION. Two stabilised and retouched hairlines to front of base,
one to the reverse of the large spaniel and one also to the reverse of the base.
