Pair Staffordshire seated russet spaniels with pups
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 6.5ins high, 4.9ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel with a pup, seated on a cobalt blue base. Dull gilt base line and embellishment.
Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.
Vent holes to reverse and underside.
Condition
Right facing: Generally good. Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line along the mold join to the spaniel's head;
shrinkage crack to the reverse at base edge;
fleck of stray coloured glaze to one of the russet markings.
RESTORATION: Retouched paint loss to eyes and russet and black markings.
