Pair Staffordshire spaniels with tongues out

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 5.1ins high, 4.7ins wide, 2.4ins depth.

Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel with it's tongue hanging out, stood on an oval base.



Dull gilt base line. Decorated mainly to the front.



Vent hole to the underside.

Condition

Right facing: Good. Some very small paint losses to markings, tongue and one paw.









Some rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: some over glazed shrinkage lines;





kiln grit caught in the glaze to the upper base;



two craze lines, one to base side, the other running up reverse;





kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the tail.



RESTORATION: retouched paint losses to black markings.







Left facing: Good. Some small paint losses to markings.







Slight rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: kiln grit caught in the glaze to reverse, dog's head and chest.







RESTORATION: retouched paint losses to black markings.





Retouched flake to tongue.
