Pair Staffordshire mastiff spill vases
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 6.1ins high, 5.5ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire spill vases which feature a mastiff dog, recumbent on a shaped base.
We think they have possibly been matched up together at some stage because they are of significantly different colouration.
Dull gilt base line. Flatback, decorated mainly to the front.

CONDITION: Right facing: Good. No restoration.
Minor paint losses to dog's muzzle,
and front of spill.
Slight wear to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: finger print to front of spill.
Left facing: Generally good.
Some small flakes to rim spill.
A few paint losses to the base.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line to the dog's right shoulder.
RESTORATION. Retouched paint loss to dog's nose.
Spill vase, from just above dogs back, reglued and join retouched.
