Staffordshire pipe smoking spaniel on blue base

Victorian, circa 1860. 8.7ins high, 6.7ins wide, 3.9ins depth. Staffordshire figure which features a spaniel smoking a pipe, seated on a cobalt blue base. White and gilt version. Dull gilt embellishment.









Decorated mainly to the front.



Vent hole to the underside.

Condition

Good. Small flake to tail.



Some rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: faint shrinkage line along the mold join of dog's back and head;





thin glaze application to cobalt base.



RESTORATION: Remodelled pipe.







Retouched paint losses to face.
