Staffordshire Porcellaneous cow spill vase
Victorian, circa 1840. 6.1ins high, 7.3ins wide, 5.5ins depth.
Staffordshire porcellaneous spill vase which features a cow, stood on a shaped base.
Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Generally good. Chips and losses to petals.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: staining to two legs;
kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the cow's face.
RESTORATION. Remodelled bird's head, cow's right horn and ear,
cow's left horn tip and missing tail sections.
Filled chips to spill rim.
Retouched paint losses to cow's markings.
