Pair Staffordshire black and white cats

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 7.1ins high, 3.9ins wide, 2.6ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a cat, seated on a shaped base.





Dull gilt base line. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Generally good. Slight rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: craze lines to the cat and base;







glaze miss to the reverse;



shrinkage crack along the mold join.



RESTORATION. Reglued base in 4 places, left front leg and right ear.













Filled chip to base edge.



Retouched paint losses to black enamel.







Left facing: Fair. Slight rubbing to gilt.



KILN EFFECTS: craze lines to the cat and base.









RESTORATION. Reglued cat to base (break through left front ankle).





Remodelled left ear.



Stabilised and retouched crack to cat's back.



Retouched paint losses to black enamel.
