Pair Staffordshire spaniel & pups inkwell
Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 3ins high, 4.8ins wide, 3ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire inkwells which feature a spaniel and her pups, recumbent on a cobalt blue base.
Russet, black and white version. Dull gilt embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition
CONDITION: Right facing: Generally good. No restoration.
Hairline to mother spaniel's head, running down the reverse, not visible from the front.
Hairline to underside.
A few paint losses to their markings.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the mother spaniel's right front paw;
craze lines to the mother spaniel.
Left facing: Generally good. No restoration.
Hairline to mother spaniel's neck (at reverse),
her right front leg
and her right hind leg.
Small chip to mother spaniel's right front paw.
A few paint losses to their markings.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to underside;
shrinkage line to mother spaniel's left front paw;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the top puppy;
shrinkage crack to top puppy's back.
