1741 Sampler by Mary Loder

George II, dated 1732. 12ins by 7.75ins wide.

1732 Sampler by Mary loder. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.

No border, divider lines in various patterns. Colours cream, green, pink and blue. Alphabets A-Z in lower case.

Inscriptions read

A few motifs including a lion, flowers, hearts, birds and crowns.

CONDITION: Generally good. No holes. A few stains.

Stitch losses to the divider lines.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run.

Stretching is very slightly uneven.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
