Rare Majolica Palissy bird & worm toothpick holder

Victorian, circa 1890. 5.3ins high, 3.5ins wide, 3.9ins depth.

Portuguese Palissy Majolica toothpick holder which features a bird eating a worm.

Colouration: cream, ochre, green, are predominant.

Book reference not found.


Generally good. Two small flakes to butterfly's body;

tiny glaze pop to the lower base edge;

a speck of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the bird's neck.

RESTORATION: Filled chips to both wings of the butterfly.

Most of the flower petals re-attached, remodelled or retouched.
