Minton Majolica Cow's head butter dish & plate
Victorian, circa 1872. 3.5ins high, 8.7ins wide, 8.7ins depth. Minton Majolica butter dish which features blackberry fruits and leaves, cow's heads form the handles.
Colouration: brown, turquoise, green, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '496 497'. English diamond registration mark for the date 22/05/1856.
Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1872.

Condition
CONDITION: Dish: Generally good. Some flakes to feet.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the green glaze.
RESTORATION. Remodelled 3 horns.
Filled chips to both muzzles, 2 ears, rim and handle.
Base: Good. No restoration. Chip to foot rim.
Staining from use.
Wear to the high points of the molding.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the grren glaze.
