Staffordshire Pearlware Cow & Calf bocage figure group
pre-Victorian, circa 1830. 5.9ins high, 3.9ins wide, 2.6ins depth. Staffordshire pearlware bocage figure which features a cow and calf, recumbent on an oval base. Russet and white version.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Book reference not found.
Fair. Hairline to the cow's front right ankle, the hind left ankle and back.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the calf;
shrinkage crack to bocage at reverse.
RESTORATION: Stabilised and retouched hairlines and cracks to the base and bocage (some still visible in the bocage).
Filled chip to right horn
and chips to bocage. Retouched paint losses to the bocage.
