Copeland Majolica trinket box

Victorian, circa 1870. 3.9ins high, 5.1ins wide, 3.3ins depth. Copeland Majolica trinket box which features putto to the sides and musical instruments to the cover.





Colouration: cream, pink, ochre, are predominant.





The piece bears maker's marks for the Copeland pottery. Bears a pattern number, '14'.

CONDITION: Cover: Generally good. Tight hairline to rim.



Small chip to finial.



Some flakes to raised decoration and rim.











RESTORATION: Filled chips to rim.





Stabilised and retouched hairlines to rim and inner rim.



Base: Generally good. Small flake to putti's wing.



KILN EFFECTS: thin glaze application to the rim.





RESTORATION: Filled chips to feet and putti's hair.









Retouched flake to ram's heads, wings and putti's face.
