Large Wedgwood Majolica Putti compote
Victorian, circa 1889. 16.3ins high, 11.4ins wide, 11.4ins depth. Wedgwood Majolica compote which features three putti with musical instruments.
Colouration: brown, ochre, green, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Wedgwood pottery.
Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1889.

CONDITION: Dish: Good. No restoration.
Staining and scratches from use.
Tarnishing to the metal interior.
KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing;
glaze run to the green glaze.
Stand: Generally good.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze run to the brown glaze;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the putti;
thin glaze application to the pan pipes and quiver.
RESTORATION:- Filled chip to the feathers of the arrows.
Retouched flakes to ground,
one putti's hair and retouched bruise to same putti's neck.
