Carltonware Guinness Toucan lamp and original Shade

Mid 20thC. 17ins high. Carltonware Guinness advertising Toucan Lamp with original shade.



The lamp base is modeled as a Toucan standing over a pint of Guinness on a green oval base. Around the base are the words 'How grand to be a Toucan Just think what Toucan do If he can say as you can Guinness is good for you'. Hole at the side for the wire to come through.







Small vent hole and printed maker's marks to underside including 'PRODUCED IN GREAT BRITAIN FOR ARTHUR GUINNESS SON & CO. (PARK ROYAL) LTD., BY CARLTON WARE LIMITED. STOKE-ON-TRENT' and 'GA/2178'.





The shade has a printed motif around the bottom of a man with a rope tied around his waist. He is holding a pint of Guinness in his right hand and with his left hand is having a 'tug of war' against a toucan balancing two pints of Guinness on its beak, a kangaroo, an ostrich, a lion, a seal, a bear and a tortoise.





Electrical bayonet fitting to top and flex with plug, all untested.

Condition

Base: very good. No restoration. Very slight wear.



Shade: good. A few small stains.
