Monumental Minton Majolica Conch Shell Jardinière

Victorian, circa 1869. 25.6ins high, 21.3ins wide, 16.9ins depth. Minton Majolica jardinière which features a large conch shell, supported by branching coral, sat on a rocky base embellished with seaweed.

Colouration: white, dark coral red, brown, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '966'. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1869.

Condition

CONDITION: Good. Some minor wear and a few scratches to the interior from use.

Kiln effect: Small firing crack to the shell.

RESTORATION. Small stabilised and retouched crack to rim.

Three small stabilised and retouched hairlines to the rim.

Filled chip to shell protuberance.

Filled chip to coral.
