Cunha Palissy Majolica Anthropomorphic Lizard Monk Jug

Victorian, circa 1890. 12.3ins high, 6.7ins wide, 5.1ins depth. Jose A Cunha Portuguese Palissy Majolica jug/pitcher which features a lizard dressed as a monk, prayer hands and singing. The tail forms the handle.

Colouration: brown, green, yellow, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Jose A Cunha pottery.

CONDITION: Good. RESTORATION. Filled chip to arm.

Stabilised and retouched hairline to the base.
