
Victorian, circa 1870. 9.3ins high, 9.3ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Augusto Baptista de Carvalho Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake, two frogs and a tortoise, surrounding a central well.
Colouration: green, grey, brown, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Augusto Baptista de Carvalho pottery.
Bears a pattern number, '6'.
CONDITION: Good. KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the snake.
RESTORATION. Snake head reglued and join retouched.
Filled chip to underside.
