Pair of Minton Majolica Fantail Pigeon Vases

Victorian, circa 1873. 6.1ins high, 4.7ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Minton Majolica vase which features three fantail pigeons with wings raised, supporting a bulbous vase.

 

Turquoise ground version.

Colouration: turquoise, white, magenta, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '1482'. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1873.

Condition

CONDITION: Vase 1: Very Good. RESTORATION. Filled chip to two beaks.

Vase 2: Good. Kiln effect: touch mark to the rim.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to 3 beaks.

Stabilised and retouched hairline to rim.
