The embroidery is worked in wool and silk on a silk ground, worked in a variety of stitches.

Pictorial scene set in a lakeland country landscape.

Depicts a mother carrying her child, a man following behind carrying a basket and barrel, their dog running ahead.

Mountains and lakes in the background.

Trees in the foreground.

Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted on board, the frame backed with wooden board and paper.

CONDITION: Good. A small tear in the lake.

A few small holes.

Wear to the edge on the top corners.

No stitch losses.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame has some wear, but is in overall good condition, ready to hang.
