
Georgian, circa 1820. 15.2ins high, 19.6ins wide, 1.4ins deep. Georgian woolwork on felt, bird with fruit basket embroidery.
The embroidery is worked in fine wools on a brown felt-like ground, in a variety of stitches.
Colours red, blue, brown, beige and green.
Scene depicts strawberries pouring out of a basket (the plump strawberries are raised),
a peach, an apple and grapes.
A bird (goldfinch) is perched upon the grape vine.
Framed in an old maple veneered frame with rippled, old glass.
Tacked to a wood stretcher frame with cardboard and brown paper backing.
CONDITION: Good. Colours still good and strong.
No stains.
A few stitch losses to the lines on the ground.
Frame has two corners chipped, but is otherwise sound and could be hung as-is.
