18th Century Silkwork Embroidery Picture of a Well Dressed Lady

Mid 18th Century, Circa 1770. 14ins high, 9.6ins wide, 0.8ins deep. An 18th Century petit point silkwork embroidery picture of a well dressed lady, standing holding flowers, in a country landscape.

A sheep, a rabbit, flowers and plants in the foreground.

Trees, rolling hills and a blue sky in the background.

The piece is worked in petit point, using silk and fine wool-like threads on a canvas ground.

Colours red, pink, gold, cream, yellow, green and blue.

Framed in an old, possibly original wood frame with glass covering. The frame is backed with wood and covered with an old, possibly original sheet of material.

CONDITION: Good. No holes. A couple of stitch losses here and there.

No staining. Colours are good and strong. The veneer on the frame has a couple of splits.

The frame also has some wear, but is structurally sound.
