Antique Miniature Sampler with House

Georgian, circa 1820. 4.3ins high, 4.1ins wide, 0.7ins deep. Georgian Miniature Sampler with a House.

The sampler is worked in wool and silk threads on a linen ground, mainly in cross stitch.

Colours green, yellow, light brown, silver, blue and pink.

A scattering of motifs, including a house with fir trees and a picket fence,

a fruit basket

and potted flowering plants.

Framed in a modern, gilt over wood, frame with glass.

Mounting: The sampler is loose mounted onto board.

Frame backed with card and sealed with tape. Handwritten text to the reverse reads, 'Made by Linda Jean Marshall's (not Mathews') Mother.'

CONDITION: Good. One hole.

Uniform pale patchy stains, barely visible.

No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.

No colour run. Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
