
George IV, dated 1825. 13.8ins high, 11.8ins wide, 1ins deep. Regency period Sampler, stitched in 1825, by Emily White.
The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground, mainly in cross stitch.
Meandering floral border.
Colours green, copper, gold, silver, black and blue.
Signed and dated, 'Emily White Aged 11 the 8th of 12th Mo 1825'.
A wonderful set of motifs, including a shepherd and shepherdess tending to their flock of sheep.

bees,
trees, birds.
A house with a garden,
potted flowering plants and butterflies.
Framed in an old maple veneer frame with rippled, old glass.
Mounting: The sampler is stitched to linen and stretched over acid free board. Frame backed with brown paper and sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Good. A few small, inconspicuous, well backed holes.
No stains. No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with slight fading. Very slight colour run around the dog.
Stretching is slightly uneven. Frame showing slight wear and a chip of veneer missing, otherwise sound.
