Mafra Palissy Majolica Lizard & Snake Wall Plate

Circa 1890. 11.6ins high, 11.6ins wide, 3.9ins depth. Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a lizard in a burrow, defending itself from a snake.

Also, a frog peering out of a burrow

and another lizard retreating into a burrow.

Colouration: green, brown, grey, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Mafra pottery. Bears a pattern number, '4'.

Condition

CONDITION: Very Good. RESTORATION. Filled chip to frogs nose.
