Circa 1875. 13ins high, 18.4ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Thomas Sergent Majolica wall platter.

Features highly detailed models of a crayfish, shellfish,


an eel,

a frog,

a crab,

a lizard

and a variety of leaves.

Colouration: green, blue, brown, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Thomas Sergent pottery.


CONDITION: Generally good. Patches of scratching to the interior.

KILN EFFECTS: firing crack (stable) to the reverse, not present on the front of the piece.

Firing crack to leaves.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to the rim.

One fish with dorsal fin reglued and join retouched.

Another fish with both fins and tail reglued and joins retouched.

One of the crayfish legs remodelled.

Filled chip to crayfish mouth.
