
Victorian, circa 1875. 7.1ins high, 11.8ins wide, 7.7ins depth. George Jones Majolica game pie dish which features the lid with a knop modelled as a wild boar head, an oak leaf and acorn border.
The dish has handles at either end, with stag heads underneath.
Panels on the sides depict a wild boar being hunted by dogs.
Turquoise ground version. Colouration: turquoise, green, ochre, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the George Jones pottery. Bears a pattern number, '5255'.
CONDITION: Cover: Very Good. RESTORATION. Tiny filled chip to tip of boar's left ear.
Dish: Very Good. No restoration. A few inconspicuous flakes.
