Victorian, circa 1880. 6.1ins high, 8.7ins wide, 8.7ins depth. Holdcroft Majolica square box and cover which features storks, squirrels, blossom and parrot feet.
Colouration: cobalt blue, green, turquoise, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Holdcroft pottery.
CONDITION: Cover: Good. No restoration. Some small flakes to panels, rim and flange.
KILN EFFECTS: slightly uneven glaze application to the top.
Base: Generally good. Flaking/wear around the rim in places.
KILN EFFECTS: thin glaze application in places;
kiln soot caught in the glaze on one squirrel.
RESTORATION. Filled chips to all four beaks.
One foot reglued and join retouched.
Retouched flakes to bird's feet.
