17thC Miniature Silkwork Embroidery Reversable Picture

Late 17thC, circa 1690. 2.6ins high, 3.4ins wide, 1ins deep. Late 17th Century, Miniature Antique Silkwork Embroidery Reversable Picture.

The embroidery is extremely finely worked in coloured silk threads on a paper or felt ground. Colours blues, greens, creams and browns. Pictorial scene depicts a lady, recumbent on a grassy ground, surrounded by flowers. In the background is a house, trees and a cloudy sky.

Gold foil border around the outside. Framed in an old wooden frame with rippled old glass.

The picture is executed and mounted in a manner whereby it can be displayed either way around.

CONDITION: Very good. No stains, no holes, no stitch losses. Frame in good condition and ready to hang.
