Georgian Flower Basket Raised Work Floral Embroidery

Georgian, circa 1820. 17.7ins high, 22ins wide, 3ins deep. An embroidery picture of a basket of flowers.

Deep relief raised work depicting leaves, twigs, flowers and grasses in a variety of techniques. The flowers are 3D, raised by about 1.5 inches.

Worked in fine silks on dark linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Colours red, yellow, green, pale green, light brown, dark brown, gold, pink, cream and white.

Framed in an original mahogany frame with ornate glit slip. Acrylic 'glass' cover.

Mounting: The work is tacked to a wood stretcher frame. Frame backed with card and sealed with tape.

Colours are all good and strong. No colour run.
