
Victorian, circa 1870. 9.8ins high, 16.5ins wide, 2.4ins deep. Antique Sailor's Woolwork Embroidery Picture of sailing ship in pursuit of and firing on another.
The embroidery is worked in wool on canvas ground, blue ribbon border, a variety of stitches, raised work canon fire, and thread rigging.
Colours white, cream, blues, green, black, grey and red.
Framed in an old burr maple frame with rippled, old glass, and gilt spacer.
Mounting: The embroidery is tacked to a wood panel. Frame backed with flexible card, sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Good. No holes. No stitch losses. Two broken threads to the rigging.
Colours all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Stretching slightly uneven. Some tacks visible.
Frame refreshed, in good condition, ready to hang.
