
George IV, dated 1825 and 1829. 7.2ins high, 9.3ins wide, 0.7ins deep. Pair of Regency Samplers, stitched in 1825 and 1829, by Sarah Ann Terry.

The samplers are worked in wool threads on a linen ground, mainly in cross stitch.
Meandering strawberry border.
Colours red, yellow, green, pale blue, pink and black.
Signed, 'Sarah Ann Terry Finished this work in The 11 Year of her age 1825'
and, 'Sarah Ann Terry Finished this work in The 16 Year of her age 1829'.
A scattering of motifs, including winged angels playing trumpets, flowers, fir trees, birds and potted flowering plants.
Framed in old, possibly original, Hogarth frames with glass.
Mounting: The samplers are loose mounted onto card. Frames backed with chipboard and sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Good. No holes. 1825 example: One small stain below date.
A few inconspicous stitch losses here and there.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
Very slight colour run around the black threads.
Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
The 1829 example is the same, with a small stain below the date.
