George III, circa 1800. 8.3ins high, 6.7ins wide, 1.1ins deep. Pair of Georgian silkwork floral embroideries worked in silk on satin ground, in a variety of stitches.
Colours red, cream, blue, light brown, dark brown, gold, silver, pink, light green and green. Original oval wood and gesso frames with rippled, dimpled, old glass.
Both embroideries are stitched to their original woven mats, stretched with threads over card and glued in the corners. Backs finished with acid-free card and sealed with tape.
CONDITION: Generally good.
Embroidery 1: A few small holes.
Slight stain bottom right.
Slightly unstretched in bottom right.
Embroidery 2: A few tiny holes.
Both have good and strong colours, with no noticeable fading. Frames showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
