Pair JRL Majolica Bird And Nest Wall Pockets

Victorian, circa 1880. Tallest is 11.8ins high, 8.3ins wide, 3.5ins depth.

Pair of J.R.L. Majolica wall pockets which feature a bird perched on a branch above a woven nest.

Colouration: green, brown, ochre, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the J.R.L. pottery.



CONDITION: Wall pocket 1: Good.

Small flakes to branch and rim of nest.

KILN EFFECTS: over glazed chip to one leaf.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to bird's tail feathers and one leaf.

Retouched flakes to leaves.

Wall pocket 2: Good.

Some small flakes to branch.

KILN EFFECTS: tiny glaze pops to the bird.

RESTORATION. Filled and retouched chips and flakes to leaves.

Tip of bird's tail feather and beak reglued.
