
Mid to late 17thC, circa 1660. 12ins high by 15ins wide. 17th Century Antique Silkwork Appliqué.
The appliqué has tent stitched silkwork slips/motifs, sewn onto a silk ground.
A wonderful set of slips/motifs, including: a rose, a lion, a leopard, a stag, birds, insects, rabbits, flowers and leaves.
Framed in an old, gilded, gesso frame with rippled, old glass. The silkwork panel is stitched to a white backing material.
CONDITION: Good. No holes, some fraying to extreme edges.
No stains other than uniform age darkening of the ground. Stitch losses to some of the motifs.
Colours are all good and strong. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched.
Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
