Antique Darning Sampler, 1779, by Hannah Kent

George III, dated 1779. 13.8ins high, 14.2ins wide, 0.6ins deep. 1778 Darning Sampler by Hannah Kent.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Finely embroidered border.

Colours green, cream, blue, green, gold, black, brown and pink.

Signed and dated,

'Hannah Kent 1779'.

Comprises of darning panels, worked in various different styles and patterns, with a central floral motif.

Framed in a modern frame with glass.

Mounting: The sampler is fixed to card. Frame backed with wood and brown paper.

CONDITION: Good. A couple of very small holes.

A couple of patchy stains.

No stitch losses.

Colours are good and bright.

No colour run.

Slightly unevenly stretched.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
