William IV, dated 1835. 16.1ins high, 11.8ins wide, 1.6ins deep. 1835 Sampler by Ann Willmot. The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Meandering floral border.
Colours brown, green, copper, black and white.
Signed and dated, 'Mary Ann Willmot 1835'.
A good set of motifs, including a house, dogs, birds, flowers, potted flowering plants, fruit baskets, a shepherd & shepherdess and fruit trees.
Framed in an old wood frame with glass. Mounting: The sampler is tacked to a wood stretcher frame and backed with acid free paper. Frame backed with chipboard.
CONDITION: Generally Good. A few small holes.
Slight patchy staining in places.
Minor stitch losses to the border and motifs.
Colours are good and strong. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
