pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 12ins high, 4.3ins wide, 3.7ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery pearlware figure with a classical theme which features Neptune holding trident (detachable) with a dolphin, stood on a square pedestal base.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Impressed 'NEPTUNE' to reverse and Maker's marks 'O', to underside.
CONDITION: Generally good.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze accumulation to the base;
glaze pops to glaze under dolphin's mouth;
shallow firing crack to top of thigh.
RESTORATION. Neptune is reglued and joins retouched, through the ankles and dolphin's tail.
The work is of very high quality and not easily detectable.
Remodelled left arm.
Filled chip to nose.
Retouched paint losses to cloak and base.
