Cunha Palissy Majolica Mouse and Corn Toothpick Holder

Circa 1890. 5.1ins high, 3.7ins wide, 3.7ins depth. Cunha Portuguese Palissy Majolica toothpick holder which features a mouse eating corn.

Colouration: brown, green, ochre, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Cunha pottery.


CONDITION: Generally good.

KILN EFFECTS: a speck of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the underside of the leaf.

RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched crack across the middle.

Base of mouse's tail and bottom of stalk reglued and joins retouched.

Retouched flake to mouse's left ear.
